Fabric for Pleats
Pleat types and fabric multipliers:
- Knife pleats: Each pleat uses fabric = pleat depth × 2 + pleat width
- Box pleats: Each pleat uses fabric = pleat depth × 4 + pleat width
- Inverted pleats: Same as box pleats but folded inward
General rule: For a fully pleated garment:
- Knife pleats: 3× the finished width
- Box pleats: 3-4× the finished width
