Allergy Severity Score Calculator
Assess your allergy symptom severity with a structured scoring tool.
Track reactions and gauge when to seek medical care.
The Allergy Severity Score gives you a structured way to assess how severely allergies are affecting your daily life. Rather than just saying “my allergies are bad today,” this tool quantifies your symptoms across multiple dimensions so you can track trends over time and make better decisions about treatment.
The score is calculated by rating five key symptom categories — nasal symptoms, eye symptoms, skin symptoms, respiratory symptoms, and functional impact — each on a scale from 0 (none) to 3 (severe). These are summed for a total out of 15.
Score interpretation:
- 0–3: Mild — symptoms are minor and unlikely to significantly affect daily life. Over-the-counter antihistamines may be sufficient.
- 4–7: Moderate — symptoms are noticeable and disruptive. You may benefit from prescription medications or allergy testing.
- 8–11: Severe — symptoms substantially impair daily function. Medical consultation is strongly recommended.
- 12–15: Very severe — symptoms are debilitating. Seek prompt medical care.
Why track allergy severity? Allergy symptoms fluctuate with seasons, environments, and exposures. Keeping a daily severity score helps you identify triggers (e.g., pollen counts, pet exposure, dust), evaluate how well a treatment is working, and communicate clearly with your doctor.
Important note: This tool is for self-assessment only. It does not diagnose any condition or replace professional medical evaluation. If you experience throat swelling, difficulty breathing, or signs of anaphylaxis, seek emergency care immediately — do not use this tool.
Tip: Track your score at the same time each day (e.g., morning) for the most consistent data.
