Supplement Cost per Day Calculator
Calculate daily and annual supplement cost from bottle price and servings per container.
Compares up to three brands side by side on cost per serving.
Monthly supplement cost tracking helps health-conscious consumers budget accurately and compare the true per-serving cost across different brands and sizes.
The core formulas:
Cost per Serving = Product Price / Number of Servings
Monthly Cost = Cost per Serving × Servings per Day × 30
Annual Cost = Monthly Cost × 12
Best Value Score = Cost per Serving / Dose per Serving (mg or IU)
What each variable means:
- Number of Servings — total servings in the container (not capsules — some servings are 2 or 3 capsules)
- Servings per Day — how many servings the label recommends or you actually take
- Dose per Serving — the active ingredient amount per serving in mg, mcg, or IU (used for comparing brands)
- Best Value Score — lower is better; shows cost per unit of active ingredient
Worked example: You take three supplements daily:
- Vitamin D3: $18 for 360 softgels, 1 per day → $18/360 = $0.05/day
- Magnesium glycinate: $32 for 120 capsules, 2 per day → $32/60 servings = $0.53/day
- Omega-3: $45 for 90 softgels, 2 per day → $45/45 servings = $1.00/day
Total daily cost = $0.05 + $0.53 + $1.00 = $1.58/day Monthly cost = $1.58 × 30 = $47.40/month Annual cost = $47.40 × 12 = $568.80/year
Typical monthly supplement costs (US, 2024):
- Basic multivitamin: $10–$25/month
- Vitamin D3 (2,000 IU/day): $3–$10/month
- Magnesium: $15–$30/month
- Omega-3 (2g/day): $20–$45/month
- Creatine monohydrate (5g/day): $15–$25/month
- Collagen peptides (10g/day): $30–$60/month
Buying in bulk (90–180 day supplies) typically reduces cost per serving by 25–40% compared to 30-day bottles.
