How skateboard deck size is chosen:
Deck width is the most important measurement. It determines how much standing surface you have, how the board feels during tricks, and which trucks and wheels to pair with it. Deck width is measured in inches and typically ranges from 7.5" to 9.0".
Deck width by shoe size (US men’s):

Riding style adjustments:
- Street skating (ledges, stairs, flat ground): Narrower boards (7.75–8.1") flip easier and feel lighter
- Transition / bowl / vert: Wider boards (8.25–8.75") give more foot platform for stability at speed
- Cruising / commuting: Width matters less — prioritize comfortable trucks and soft wheels
- All-around / park: 8.0–8.25" is the sweet spot for most people
Truck width must match deck width:

The truck axle should extend to the very edge of the deck — not wider, not narrower. A mismatch makes the board feel unstable or sluggish.
Wheel size guide:
- Street: 50–53 mm, hard (99–101a durometer)
- Park / all-around: 54–56 mm, 99a
- Transition / bowl: 56–60 mm, 97–99a
- Cruiser: 56–65 mm, soft (78–87a)

Size 10 shoe, mostly skating parks and some street:
- Deck: 8.1–8.25"
- Trucks: 139 mm / 5.25
