Wedding Registry Value Calculator
Calculate total wedding registry value and average gift price across low, mid, and high-tier items.
Helps couples balance options for guests at every budget.
A wedding registry is a curated list of gifts the couple hopes to receive. Calculating the total registry value — and how much has been purchased versus remains — helps couples plan and helps guests find appropriate price points.
Formulas: Total Registry Value = Σ(Item Price × Quantity Requested) Purchased Value = Σ(Item Price × Quantity Purchased) Remaining Value = Total Registry Value − Purchased Value Average Gift Value = Total Registry Value ÷ Number of Items Completion Percentage = Purchased Value ÷ Total Registry Value × 100
What each variable means:
- Quantity Requested: how many of each item the couple wants (e.g., 8 dinner plates).
- Quantity Purchased: how many guests have already bought.
- Price per Item: the retail price at the registered store.
Registry composition guidelines:
- Include items at a wide range of price points: $25–$50 (budget guests), $75–$150 (average), $200–$500 (close family).
- Register for roughly 1.5–2× the number of guests to give everyone options.
- Include both practical items and aspirational splurges.
Worked example: Registry contains: 8 dinner plates × $45 = $360; 1 stand mixer × $450; 4 towel sets × $60 = $240; 1 duvet set × $180; 10 wine glasses × $25 = $250.
Total Registry Value = $360 + $450 + $240 + $180 + $250 = $1,480
Guests have purchased $920 worth. Remaining = $1,480 − $920 = $560 Completion = $920 ÷ $1,480 = 62.2%
Tip: Most registry platforms show purchased items — mark them as received promptly so guests don’t duplicate gifts.
