Calculate how much oil you need for your deep fryer based on fryer size and oil type.
Includes cost estimates and oil reuse tips.
Oil Needed
Deep fryer oil amount depends on the fryer size and type. Most fryers need to be filled to the fill line, typically 60–80% of total capacity.
General rule:
Oil needed = Fryer capacity × 0.70 (70% fill)
Common fryer sizes:
| Fryer Size | Oil Needed | Serves |
|---|---|---|
| 1 liter (1 qt) | ~0.7 L (0.75 qt) | 1–2 people |
| 2 liters (2 qt) | ~1.4 L (1.5 qt) | 2–3 people |
| 3 liters (3 qt) | ~2.1 L (2.2 qt) | 3–4 people |
| 4 liters (1 gal) | ~2.8 L (3 qt) | 4–6 people |
| 6 liters (1.5 gal) | ~4.2 L (1.1 gal) | 6–8 people |
Volume conversions:
- 1 liter = 0.264 gallons = 1.057 quarts
- 1 gallon = 3.785 liters
