Unit conversions:
- Square feet to square meters: divide by 10.764
- Square meters to square feet: multiply by 10.764
- Square feet to square yards: divide by 9

- Standard roll width: 12 ft (3.66 m)
What to add:
- Waste allowance: Add 10% for rectangular rooms, 15–20% for irregularly shaped rooms
- Padding: Same square footage as carpet (always recommended)
Carpet padding thickness guide:
- Berber/loop pile: 3/8 inch firm padding
- Plush/cut pile: 7/16 inch standard padding
- Frieze/textured: 1/2 inch standard padding
