Lottery Number Generator

This tool generates random number combinations for popular lottery games. Each number in the main pool is equally likely to be selected.

Supported lottery games:

Game Main Numbers Bonus Ball Jackpot Odds
Powerball (US) 5 from 1–69 1 from 1–26 1 in 292,201,338
Mega Millions (US) 5 from 1–70 1 from 1–25 1 in 302,575,350
EuroMillions 5 from 1–50 2 from 1–12 1 in 139,838,160
UK Lotto 6 from 1–59 none 1 in 45,057,474
Australian Oz Lotto 7 from 1–47 none 1 in 62,891,499
Canada Lotto 6/49 6 from 1–49 none 1 in 13,983,816
Pick 3 3 digits 0–9 none 1 in 1,000
Pick 4 4 digits 0–9 none 1 in 10,000

Each of those odds figures is just a combination count. UK Lotto is C(59,6) = 45,057,474. Powerball is C(69,5) × 26, because the red ball comes from a separate drum, which is 11,238,513 × 26.

How randomness works: Numbers come from a Fisher-Yates shuffle driven by the browser’s built-in Math.random(). That is genuinely uniform and perfectly adequate for choosing lottery numbers, but it is not a cryptographic random number generator, and nothing on this page should be used where that matters. For picking six numbers on a Saturday it is indistinguishable from a ball machine.

Are any numbers “luckier” than others? No. In a fair lottery, every number combination is equally likely. Previous draws have no influence on future draws — the lottery has no memory. Frequently drawn numbers are simply the result of chance variance.

Hot and cold numbers: Many players track “hot” (frequently drawn) or “cold” (rarely drawn) numbers. Statistically, these patterns are random coincidence. The expected frequency of every number is the same in a fair draw.

The one thing that genuinely helps You cannot improve your chance of winning. You can improve what a win is worth.

Enormous numbers of people pick birthdays, which means the range 1 to 31 is played far more heavily than the numbers above it. Consecutive runs and neat patterns on the slip get picked too. None of that changes the draw, but it does change how many people you share a jackpot with when your numbers come up, and sharing is the only part of the outcome you have any say over.

So: at least one number above 31, and no tidy sequences. A random line does both by accident, which is the real argument for a generator over a favourite set of dates.
