Time Percentage Calculator
See what percentage of a time range has elapsed.
Enter a start date, end date, and current date to find days elapsed, days remaining, and progress.
This calculator answers a simple question: how far through a time period are you, expressed as a percentage?
The formula is straightforward. Given a start date, end date, and current date:
% elapsed = (current − start) / (end − start) × 100
If the current date is before the start, elapsed is 0%. If it is after the end, elapsed is capped at 100%.
Where this comes up:
Project timelines. If a project runs from January 1 to December 31 and it is April 15, you are 28.5% through the year — and if you are on schedule, about 28.5% of deliverables should be done. More often they are not, which is the whole point of tracking.
Fiscal years. Companies running a July-to-June fiscal year constantly need to know “how much of the year is left?” for budget tracking. This calculator handles any start and end dates, not just calendar years.
Construction contracts. A 180-day contract starting on March 1 — what percent is complete by May 20? These questions come up in every progress billing cycle.
Personal goals. Tracking a 90-day fitness challenge, a semester, a savings goal deadline — same math, different context.
The chart shows elapsed (filled) versus remaining (unfilled) as a simple proportion. Current date defaults to today, which is the most common use case.
