International Grade Converter
Convert academic grades between US, UK, European (ECTS), and Indian grading systems.
Useful for study abroad and international applications.
Grade scale conversion translates grades between different systems — letter grades (A, B, C), percentage scores, GPA (0–4.0 or 0–10), and international grading systems used around the world.
US Letter Grade to GPA (4.0 Scale):
| Letter Grade | Percentage | 4.0 GPA |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | 97–100% | 4.0 |
| A | 93–96% | 4.0 |
| A− | 90–92% | 3.7 |
| B+ | 87–89% | 3.3 |
| B | 83–86% | 3.0 |
| B− | 80–82% | 2.7 |
| C+ | 77–79% | 2.3 |
| C | 73–76% | 2.0 |
| D | 60–69% | 1.0 |
| F | Below 60% | 0.0 |
GPA Calculation Formula:
GPA = Sum(Grade points × Credit hours) / Total credit hours
Worked Example:
| Course | Credits | Letter Grade | Grade Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Math | 3 | A (4.0) | 12.0 |
| English | 3 | B+ (3.3) | 9.9 |
| History | 2 | A− (3.7) | 7.4 |
| Chemistry | 4 | B (3.0) | 12.0 |
Total grade points = 41.3 ÷ 12 total credits = GPA: 3.44
International Equivalents:
| System | Equivalent to US “A” |
|---|---|
| UK | First Class (70%+) |
| Germany | 1.0–1.5 (scale inverted) |
| France | 16–20 / 20 |
| India | 90%+ (distinction) |
Practical Tips:
- Different institutions weight A+ differently — check your school’s exact scale
- Weighted GPA adds 0.5–1.0 point for AP/IB courses; colleges recalculate to unweighted for comparison
