Days Between Dates
Calculate exact days, weeks, months, and years between any two dates.
Also counts business days excluding weekends and US federal holidays.
Time Between Dates
Days = |End Date - Start Date|
This calculator counts every calendar day between two dates you choose. It also calculates weeks, approximate months, and business days (weekdays only, excluding Saturdays and Sundays).
What the results mean:
- Calendar days – the total number of days including weekends and holidays
- Weeks – the number of complete 7-day weeks
- Months – an approximation based on the average month length of 30.44 days
- Business days – weekdays only (Monday through Friday), excluding weekends but not public holidays
When to use this calculator:
- Project planning: How many working days until a deadline?
- Contract durations: Calculate the exact length of a lease, warranty, or agreement.
- Event countdowns: How many days until a wedding, vacation, or graduation?
- Rental periods: Count days for daily-rate equipment or property rentals.
- Legal deadlines: Many legal filings require action within a specific number of calendar or business days.
Practical examples:
- January 1 to March 31 = 89 days (or 90 in a leap year), about 64 business days.
- A 6-month project from April 1 to September 30 = 183 days, roughly 131 business days.
Tips:
- The order of dates does not matter – the calculator always gives a positive result.
- Business days exclude weekends but cannot account for public holidays, which vary by country and region.
- For precise business-day calculations involving holidays, manually subtract the number of holidays that fall on weekdays.
- Leap years are handled automatically. February 29 is included in counts when it falls within the date range.
