Session time depends primarily on size, style, and placement.
By size (approximate hours):
- Tiny (under 5cm) — 30 min to 1 hour
- Small (5–10cm) — 1–3 hours
- Medium (10–20cm) — 3–6 hours
- Large (20–30cm) — 5–10 hours
- Extra large (30cm+) — multiple sessions (10–20+ hours)
Style multipliers:
- Fine linework: 1.0× (baseline)
- Traditional / neo-trad: 1.2× (bold shading)
- Blackwork / geometric: 1.3× (dense fill)
- Realism / portrait: 2.0–3.0× (extremely detailed)
- Watercolor: 1.5× (complex blending)
- Sleeve / full back: always multiple sessions
Always add a 20–30% buffer for breaks, touch-up passes, and artist style.
