Business Days Until Deadline Calculator
Count working days between today and any deadline date, excluding weekends and optional US federal holidays.
Shows calendar days, business days, and weeks.
Calendar days and business days are different numbers, and mixing them up is a reliable way to miss a deadline.
A project that is “10 business days away” is actually two full calendar weeks — more than most people intuit when counting quickly on their fingers.
This calculator counts from today to a target date and reports:
- Total calendar days
- Weekdays (Monday through Friday, excluding Saturday and Sunday)
- Weeks remaining (fractional)
- The US federal holidays that fall within the range, if you choose to exclude them
US federal holidays in 2026 include: New Year, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Not every employer observes all of these. If your team observes Columbus Day but not Juneteenth, adjust the holiday toggle manually.
One practical note on deadline management: the number of business days is the right unit for estimating work, but calendar days matter for dependencies — vendors, clients, and shipping schedules care about calendar days, not your Monday-to-Friday schedule.
When planning backwards from a hard deadline:
- Identify the last possible day work can be submitted
- Subtract review and approval time (usually 2-5 business days)
- Subtract buffer for revisions (1-3 days)
- What remains is when the actual work needs to be finished
The results this calculator shows are as of the current date in your browser.
