Amazon FBA Profitability Calculator
Calculate your profit margin for Amazon FBA products after referral fees, FBA fulfillment fees, storage fees, and cost of goods.
How Amazon FBA Fees Work (2024)
When you sell through Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon), Amazon stores, packs, and ships your product. In return, they charge several fees that directly reduce your profit.
Referral Fee Amazon charges approximately 15% of the sale price for most categories. Some categories (e.g. electronics, media) have lower rates. This calculator uses the standard 15% rate.
FBA Fulfillment Fee Charged per unit shipped, based on product size tier:
- Small Standard (≤ 16 oz): ~$3.22/unit
- Large Standard (≤ 3 lb): ~$5.42/unit
- Small Oversize (≤ 70 lb): ~$9.73/unit
Monthly Storage Fee Amazon charges for storage in their fulfillment centers. Rate: ~$0.87/cubic foot (Jan–Sep) and ~$2.40/cubic foot (Oct–Dec). This calculator uses an average of $1.20/cubic foot. Cubic feet estimated from product weight (rough approximation for standard packaged goods).
Profit Formula Referral fee = Sale price × 15% FBA fee = based on size tier Storage fee per unit = volume × $1.20 × storage months Profit per unit = Sale price − Referral fee − FBA fee − Storage fee − COGS
Tips for FBA Sellers Aim for at least 25–30% net margin after all fees. Storage costs multiply fast — minimize slow-moving inventory. Always include the cost of shipping your goods to Amazon in your COGS.
