How Etsy Fees Work (2024)
Every Etsy sale involves several fees that eat into your revenue. Understanding them precisely is essential for setting profitable prices.
Listing Fee $0.20 per item listed (charged when listed, and again when it sells and relists automatically).
Transaction Fee 6.5% of the total sale amount, including the shipping price you charge the buyer.
Payment Processing Fee 3% + $0.25 of the total charged to the buyer (sale price + shipping charged). This applies when using Etsy Payments (required in most countries).
Offsite Ads Fee If enrolled in Etsy Offsite Ads, Etsy charges 15% of the sale price when a buyer arrives via an offsite ad. Shops earning under $10,000/year can opt out. Shops earning over $10,000/year are required to participate.
Profit Formula Listing fee: $0.20 Transaction fee: (Sale price + Shipping charged) × 6.5% Payment processing: (Sale price + Shipping charged) × 3% + $0.25 Offsite Ads fee: Sale price × 15% (if enrolled) Net Profit = Sale price + Shipping charged − All fees − Cost of materials − Actual shipping cost
Tip: Factor In All Costs Many sellers forget the shipping difference. If you charge $6 for shipping but pay $7.50 at the post office, that $1.50 comes out of your profit. Always enter your actual shipping cost alongside what you charge the buyer.
