Blog Traffic Estimator
Project blog traffic growth at 3, 6, and 12 months from post count and monthly views per post.
Returns total visitors and cumulative traffic milestones.
Blog traffic and ad revenue estimation combines traffic projections with advertising industry benchmarks to forecast monthly and annual earnings from display advertising programs like Google AdSense, Mediavine, or Raptive.
Core formulas: Monthly Revenue = Monthly Pageviews × (RPM ÷ 1,000) RPM (Revenue Per Mille) = (Total Earnings ÷ Total Pageviews) × 1,000 Annual Revenue = Monthly Revenue × 12 Monthly Sessions = Monthly Pageviews ÷ Pages per Session
Where:
- RPM = revenue earned per 1,000 pageviews (also called RPM or EPMV — earnings per thousand visitors)
- Pageviews = total pages loaded by visitors per month
- Pages per Session = average number of pages a visitor views per visit (typically 1.3–2.5)
Typical RPM benchmarks by niche (US traffic):
| Niche | RPM Range |
|---|---|
| Finance / Insurance | $15–$50 |
| Health & Medical | $12–$35 |
| Legal | $15–$45 |
| Technology | $8–$20 |
| Home & Garden | $8–$18 |
| Food & Recipes | $5–$15 |
| Entertainment | $3–$8 |
| General Lifestyle | $4–$12 |
Traffic to income milestones:
| Monthly Pageviews | RPM $10 | RPM $20 | RPM $35 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10,000 | $100 | $200 | $350 |
| 50,000 | $500 | $1,000 | $1,750 |
| 100,000 | $1,000 | $2,000 | $3,500 |
| 500,000 | $5,000 | $10,000 | $17,500 |
Worked example: A finance blog gets 85,000 pageviews/month with an RPM of $22. Monthly Revenue = 85,000 × (22 ÷ 1,000) = $1,870/month Annual Revenue = $1,870 × 12 = $22,440/year
Key driver: RPM is 10× more impactful than traffic at scale. Moving from AdSense ($5–$10 RPM) to a premium network like Mediavine ($15–$30 RPM) can double or triple revenue without changing traffic levels.
