Negative Split Strategy

A negative split means running the second half of a race faster than the first. Research shows this is the most common strategy among marathon world-record performances.

Split ratio: A 52/48 split means the first half takes 52% of total time, the second half 48%.

First Half Time = Total Time × Split Ratio Second Half Time = Total Time × (1 − Split Ratio)

Pace = Half Time ÷ Distance (21.0975 km per half)
