Affiliate Commission Calculator

Affiliate commission is the payment an affiliate marketer earns for referring customers to a merchant’s product or service.

The core formulas:

• Monthly conversions = Clicks × Conversion rate
• Monthly earnings = Conversions × Commission per sale
• Earnings per click (EPC) = Earnings ÷ Clicks

The calculator asks for commission per sale as a dollar figure rather than a percentage, because programmes quote it both ways and flat-fee offers have no sale price at all. If yours is a percentage, multiply it by the typical order value first: a $150 product at 40% is $60 per sale.

What each variable means:

• Conversion rate is what share of your referred clicks actually buy. For most content sites this lands between 0.5% and 5%, and anything above that usually means very high purchase intent.
• Commission per sale is your cut of one transaction, whether that comes from a percentage of the price or a flat bounty.
• EPC is earnings per click, and it is the number to watch. Total earnings tell you how the month went; EPC tells you whether a traffic source or an offer is worth keeping, because it is comparable across programmes of completely different sizes.

Worked example: You promote a $150 online course with a 40% affiliate commission. Your blog sends 3,000 visitors/month and converts at 2%.

Conversions = 3,000 × 0.02 = 60 sales Commission per sale = $150 × 0.40 = $60 Monthly earnings = 60 × $60 = $3,600/month EPC = $3,600 / 3,000 = $1.20 per click

• Physical products (Amazon): 1–10%
• Software/SaaS: 20–40% recurring
• Online courses: 30–50%
• Financial products: $50–$200 flat per lead
• Web hosting: $50–$150 flat per sale

Recurring commissions (SaaS products) are the most powerful — a single referral can earn you commissions every month for years without additional effort.
